In March, we organized the shipment of 6 grand sized parasols which Hardheim MDT - Tex, Germany (https://www.mdt-tex.com ) produced for Peninsula Hotel/Istanbul,Turkey as a special edition. On the plot plan, the hotel located in Galata Port was planning for the parasols to be placed in front of the ball room which along with the bosphorus shore. But there was no chance of moving the parasols from the landside to the seaside due to the supplier’s delay on production when the construction of the hotel was completed. We advised our client that as MGL – we are able to move the goods by sea as an alternative transport mode and then worked on a Method of Statement (MOS) with our partner engineers. On the subject plan, we mentioned all details including the radius that would be used during the stuffing, unstuffing and montage process.

After we brought the parasols to Istanbul, we loaded the goods on the barge with a spreader and by a 80 tons carrying capacity mobile crane & a 100 tons carrying capacity barge crane and lashed on it.We approached the quay of Galata Port/Peninsula Hotel and carried out the evacuation and simultaneous assembly process by operating the cranes over the sea. We know that many companies do not want to take the operation because of the risks involved (because it is quite risky to bring 16 m long and 20 tons weight parts to the assembly position with a crane over the sea). Barge’s ballast, the installation plan to be made accordingly, the balance elements, obtaining the Bosphorus passage permits are quite complex and difficult processes.
